Restore the Real podcast episode with Jeff Hoyt on zeolite and detox

When Jeff Hoyt first reached out about zeolite, I was skeptical. I hadn’t seen great results with it before. So before I put him on the show, I read his research and tried his product myself. What happened surprised me, and it’s a big part of why this conversation is worth your time.

Jeff is the founder of Zeolite Labs and the creator of ZeoCharge, a purified clinoptilolite zeolite powder. But this episode isn’t really about a product. It’s about trusting why your body does what it does.

Symptoms are signals

Jeff made a point I don’t hear often enough. A lot of the natural health world took the conventional model, cover up the symptom, and just swapped in natural versions of the same thing. If you quiet a symptom without asking why it’s there, the problem can get pushed deeper and come back later, even if you feel better for a while.

He’s learned to be thankful for symptoms instead. They mean the body is still talking.

You have to heal before you can detox

Jeff’s view is that the body holds on to toxins for a reason. It stores them to protect you until it has the energy to let them go. So the job isn’t to force detox. It’s to get healthy enough that your body chooses to release.

He also pointed out that a lot of what your body has to deal with comes from inside: metabolic waste, waste from microbes in the gut, and toxins that get recycled through bile. Zeolite works in the gut as a binder, and his reasoning is that taking some of that load off frees up energy for deeper work.

The dosing paradox

Almost every detox protocol says start low and go slow. Jeff kept seeing the opposite with zeolite. He calls it the dosing paradox.

His theory is that a tiny dose stirs things up without enough binding capacity to catch what gets released, so the stress lands on your body. A bigger dose has room to clean up the mess it makes. That’s his observation from his work, not a universal rule, and he talks in the episode about who should be careful.

What I noticed

I’ve always started binders low, so that’s what I did. One tablespoon. Within a few days I could feel things moving, and then something showed up that I don’t usually deal with. I was having a hard time finding my words.

Jeff told me to take more, not less. Four or five tablespoons. Within a day or two, it cleared. That’s my experience, not a prescription, but it’s what made me take his theory seriously.

Who this episode is for

If you’ve ever started a detox and felt worse, if you’re tired of managing symptoms without knowing what’s behind them, or if you’ve been told to push harder when your body is asking you to slow down, this one is for you.
